The End of a Lifetime Experience

Before I came to Miami to start my internship with Dragonfly Expeditions I was counting the days.  Time could not go by fast enough.  And now, as I will return to Germany in a couple of days I realize how time actually flew by while I had the time of my life.

My expectations of what I wanted to learn, see and experience were already quite high but all of them were even exceeded.

First of all I had the pleasure to work with an absolutely incredible team.  To come to a foreign country by oneself is always difficult, but everybody in the office tried their best to make me feel as comfortable as possible in this new environment.  And in my opinion they did a great job.  Also the working atmosphere was fantastic.  Everybody works together closely and the team’s passion for what they are doing is absolutely infectious.

In fact, if you think of the kind of business that Dragonfly Expeditions is in, it is really not very hard to develop the same passion for the work you need to get done.  Speaking of this, my accountabilities turned out to be very satisfying.  I had to accept responsibility and work on projects that were not just an end in themselves but actually benefit the company while I improved both my professional and soft skills.

One of the greatest things about my whole Miami experience was having the opportunity to attend several of Dragonfly Expeditions’ tours and explore some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.  From hiking waist-deep through the crystal clear waters of the Big Cypress Preserve to exploring Palm Beach’s magnificent Whitehall, I was shown that South Florida has much more to offer than what is usually covered in the media.

Unfortunately, my time in Miami is coming to an end and I am already starting to say good bye to people I’ve met and places I’ve seen.  What I will take home with me are a lot of new friendships and millions of unforgettable impressions.  It truly was a lifetime experience.

Goodness Philipp, I never realized you were just a lowly intern, you seemed like a managing director! I didn’t realize you were German either, with your perfect English. I guess the double p at the end of your Christian names gives it away a little.

Anyway, best of luck back in Europe. I’m sure you got sand in your shoes while on Miami Beach, so we know that you will be back, hopefully with lots of European groups.

    Cheers
    Martin
